The Moving Image Archive of Science and Technology (MIASAT) was created in 2017 with the acquisition of a collection of NASA films through the Texas Archive of the Moving Image (more information on the acquisition can be read here). MIASAT is dedicated to the preservation and access of film and video that highlights scientific and technological processes, equipment, and achievements. With the acquisition and sharing of such materials as industrial films, documentaries and advertisements or other corporate promotional/educational film and video, MIASAT strives to educate the public about the history and progress of the sciences and technologies that are a deeply ingrained into our planet’s histories, economies, and cultures. Access to the contents of MIASATs holdings are possible in two ways. MIASAT keeps an updated inventory on this website for the public to search and find materials. MIASAT will also be regularly updating its streaming library with items from its inventory.
MIASAT is, currently, the passion project of one man. Funding for MIASAT projects, acquisitions and digitization is limited to what he can pull from his disposable income and the generosity of the time, knowledge and equipment of, colleagues, good friends and acquaintances.
